According to BL online catalogue, these mss. are direct copies of Royal 20 D I. 'Paris fr. 301was probably illuminated by Perrin Remiet (the 1st painter, according to Avril 1969) and includes four miniatures (ff. 25, 59, 134v, 147) copied from Royal 20 D I (ff. 26v, 67, 154, 169)'. In reference to note contained on f. 8v (Ci faut le secont oayer que maistre Renaut doit avoir, qui fut baillé à Perrin Remiet pour faire l'enluminure de l'autre cayer), Avril 1969, 304-305: 'Comment expliquer la mention de deux personnages dont on sait les attaches parisiennes, dans un manuscrit napolitain, et à quelle opération la note du folio 8 v° fait-elle allusion? Après une lecture attentive de celle-ci, il nous semble possible d'en proposer l'interprétation suivante : le manuscrit aurait été confié à « maistre Renaut », qui, encore une fois, pourrait bien être le libraire Regnaut du Montet, pour faire l'objet d'une copie. Le volume aurait été dérelié afin d'être retranscrit cahier par cahier. Une fois la copie du texte achevée, celui-ci aurait été transmis à l'enlumineur Perrin Remiet pour qu'il en copiât les illustrations sur la partie correspondante du nouvel exemplaire. Au moment du remontage du modèle, un cahier dut s'égarer, le second, à en juger d'après l'emplacement de la note. La lacune dut être remarquée par le prêteur du manuscrit, d'où cette note. Le volume, dans son état actuel, ne présentant pas de lacune, il faut supposer que l'on recouvra rapidement et remit en place le cahier manquant. En raison de la chronologie des deux personnages cités dans la note, il semble que cette opération aurait pu se dérouler aux environs de 1400. Par une fortune extraordinaire, il se trouve qu'il existe précisément deux copies de cette époque exécutées manifestement à Paris, et dont le texte dérive directement de celui du manuscrit Royal 20.D.I. : il s'agit du manuscrit fr. 301 de la Bibliothèque nationale et du manuscrit 54 du fonds Stowe conservé au British Museum.'

'[lo] stesso colophon si trova anche nel già ricordato ms. Wien, ÖNB, Cod. 2576, latore della prima redazione, probabilmente realizzato nel Nord Est dell'Italia intorno alla metà del XIV secolo. Entrambi hanno in comune lo stesso errore nella coniugazione del verbo iniziale (finies per finissent) a motivo del quale si può ragionevolmente pensare che risalgano ad un comune antecedente che lo conteneva.'

General decoration:A large [11 line] decorated initial introduces the manuscript, which is followed by decorated / historiated initials [5-8 lines tall], introducing each of the MFLCOF segments. Decorated initials, approx. two lines tall, introduce the chapters within these segments. The decoration of the Troy section [f. 26v - 193v] far exceeds that of the other segments. See ms. folio segment sequence interface for further details. Some of the decoration is unfinished, as shown by spaces left for unexecuted decorated initials [f. 71v].

En Espagne, il laissa des traces dans la production manuscrite castillane de la matière troyenne, avant d'arriver à Paris comme cadeau du nouveau roi d'Espagne Henri II au roi de France Charles V, qui l'avait aidé dans la campagne militaire contre son frère Pierre le Cruel ' (Barbieri 2007, 16)
